What is flickr? (from Wikipedia because I can't be bothered to come up with something better) Flickr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community. In addition to being a popular website for users to share and embed personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers to host images that they embed in blogs and social media. As of October 2009, it claims to host more than 4 billion images. I use flickr because it is extremely easy to use and manage, and allows me to comment on other people's works as well as to showcase my photos to others, and get some feedback on my images. Opportunities to meet new people are endless, and I am constantly learning and improving my photographic skills from other members of the community. Flickr is probably one of the best photography sites out there when it comes to sharing and showing pictures online, although they have recently added a video feature which I am not particularly fond of. |
